Accessibility statement
How accessible Lex is, what has been done and what has not been checked yet.
Conformance status
Lex is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. It has not been audited yet, so it does not claim to meet them: until an audit of the site in service is done, it is non-conformant, as a public sector body's site with no audit is declared in Luxembourg.
What has been done
- Every page states its language, and every quoted text of law is marked with the language it is written in.
- A link at the top of every page leads straight to its content.
- The pages of an act and of its text come complete from the server and can be read without scripts.
- Dates are always calendar dates, never relative ones.
- No information is given by colour alone: the words a search found are bold as well as highlighted.
- A comparison is one list, read in order, and the tables and lists of conditions in a text of law are always shown whole.
- Every form can be used with the keyboard alone, and every control shows when it has the focus: automated tests check this in a browser for each change to the site's code.
- An answer is announced to screen readers when it arrives.
What has not been checked yet
- No audit by an accessibility expert, and no test with a screen reader such as NVDA or VoiceOver, has been done yet.
- How the pages reflow on narrow screens and at high zoom has not been checked against the guidelines.
- Files exported as PDF are not tagged, so a screen reader cannot follow their structure; the JSON export carries the same text.
The law
In Luxembourg, the loi du 28 mai 2019 relative à l’accessibilité des sites internet et des applications mobiles des organismes du secteur public sets the accessibility rules for public sector bodies. Lex is not published by a public sector body, and gives this statement of its own accord.
This statement
This statement was prepared from the site's own code and automated tests. No outside audit has been done.
